Introduction
A vacancy exists for a Unit Manager based at Life Mount Edgecombe Hospital, reporting to the Yvonne Rajcoomar Nursing Manager. The successful candidate will manage and co-ordinate evidence based clinical practice and resources efficiently by engaging and empowering staff within the unit to achieve the company’s strategic objectives of Growth, efficiency, Quality and Sustainability.
Job description
Critical Outputs:
Effective Financial Management – Cost-effective management of resources
Ø Delivery of cost-effective, quality nursing care.
Ø Optimal and efficient human resource utilization as per agreed budgetary parameters
Ø Optimal product utilization including pharmaceuticals, equipment and sundries.
Effective clinical leadership to deliver quality care benchmarked against international standards for quality and safety
Ø Manage Patient Experience, clinical Outcomes and Safety (Patient and employee) Outcomes.
Ø Manage Customer complaints and advise events according to policy.
Effective people management – retaining employees though leadership and empowerment (Including internal and external stakeholder – relationships)
Ø Effective recruitment and promotion of staff aligned to performance and diversity strategy.
Ø Retain employees through leadership and empowerment and manage staff turnover.
Effective visible leadership to grow the business
Ø Deliver of market leading evidence based clinical care.
Ø Effective relationship with internal and external that enhances and optimizes business growth.
Minimum requirements
Requirements:
Ø Degree or Diploma in nursing with at least 5 years post basic registration experience and proven leadership and /or people management experience within healthcare (including clinical competence in the area of specialization)
Ø Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS)
Ø Participate and collaborative management style. Capacity to lead
Ø Effective leadership skills including highly developed skills in communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation.
Ø Update knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, industrial relations, standards, codes, ethics and competency standards.
Ø Current Registration with the south African Nursing Council
Ø Post Graduate Management/education qualification experience will be an advantage.
